Strengths

3 reasons to book
  • Exceptional staff and service — Guests repeatedly single out the team for going beyond expectations—from bringing coca tea to a room to helping with heavy luggage.
  • Unbeatable location — A two-minute walk to Plaza de Armas puts the city's historic core within easy reach, with shops and agencies nearby for planning excursions.
  • Well-regarded breakfast — The morning spread is praised for being healthy, well prepared, and better than most, with early options for early risers and in-room service.

Worth weighing

3 to weigh
  • Strict and early check-out — Check-out is at 09:00, which may feel early for a leisurely morning, especially for guests adjusting to the altitude.
  • No pets and no on-site parking — The hotel does not allow pets, and there is no parking listed, so guests arriving by car or with animals will need to plan around this.

“Excellent location just minutes from the main square.”

“The hotel is well placed for tourists, very close to Plaza de Armas, which matters at this altitude. There's a laundry and a travel agency opposite, handy for arranging Inca Trail excursions. The hotel itself is attractive, the service is excellent, and they run their own internal agency—we used it for the tourist bus from Cusco to Puno. Breakfasts were very good, the room was cleaned more than once a day, and for New Year's Eve, the hotel gave us supplies to celebrate.”

“Breakfast was healthy and well prepared, better than at most places. I was offered a room with pleasant mountain views. The location, very close to the Religious Art Museum, was perfect and magnificent. I had a fine stay and will definitely go back, thank you.”

“I was really surprised by Hotel Ruinas. I'd read good things before arriving, but it exceeded expectations. The staff was very helpful, service was great, breakfast was excellent, and the beds were comfortable. I can't really complain about anything. It's really close to downtown, so you can walk everywhere.”
